Students get Apples from teacher
Apple's iPad, already a familiar fixture in boardrooms, is now roaming the halls of Leeds University in the hands of students taking part in an e-learning study.
The project is monitoring how mobile devices influence study skills, the student
experience and overall academic performance. 48 undergraduates are taking part
in the experiment over a three-month period, recording how they use the iPad via
a questionnaire.
"Undergraduate students are increasingly using mobile devices in all aspects of
their lives. This ongoing research project is examining students' use of
technology in learning and studying whilst in higher education,” said project
leader Dr. Neil Morris. “The project aims to find out whether undergraduate
students could benefit from having access to a mobile device when studying for a
degree."
