IT recruitment in good shape
The demand for permanent IT staff at the end of 2010 saw its sharpest rise in four months, leading to a rise
in the average salaries being paid. Research from Recruitment and Employment
Confederation (REC) shows that businesses are keen to
source .NET and Java developers, although the large pool of temporary staff
available mean that job seekers must work hard to secure long-term positions.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC is cautious about the ongoing growth,
stating that the VAT rise and public sector cut backs may yet negatively impact
the IT recruitment space. "While these figures continued to show private sector
employment doing well, the next few months will be tough for the UK jobs
market."
